How do I add closed captioning to my videos?

You can add closed captioning to your videos right in your dashboard! You can upload closed caption files after you upload a new video, and you can go back and edit any existing videos to add them.

Click “Edit” for any video in your dashboard. You’ll see the “Closed Captions” section:

You can upload VTT (Web Video Text Track) and SRT (SubRip Subtitle) files. There are a number of transcription services you can use to create these files in the supported formats.

Files may take up to 30 seconds to finish processing, and you can continue to navigate your dashboard while waiting for it to finish.

Once the file is finished processing, assign the correct language via the dropdown menu. English is the default for new uploads.

If you have closed caption files in other languages, you can upload them as well and select the corresponding language from the dropdown menu:

  • English (default)
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Chinese
  • German
  • Arabic
  • Hindi
  • Portuguese

Once your file has uploaded and you’ve selected the language, you are all set!

If you’re editing a video that you’ve previously embedded on your site, you don’t need to update your embed code — the closed caption file will now be available in the video player for that video!
